Why Become a Member?

Did you know when consumers know that a business is a member of the local chamber of commerce they are more likely to think favorably of it? So what can the Canaan Chamber of Commerce do for your business?

Membership is an investment in your business and the community. Nothing happens unless people get involved and make things happen. Our new website was created by a new member, Mears Interactive, providing resources to all who visit.

Canaan Chamber of Commerce provides many events to bring people to Canaan each year. We begin with our biggest event, the Canaan Railroad Days which has been scheduled for July 12th – July 27th of this year. This event brings thousands of people to our beautiful town and it’s up to us to make sure they come back. We host family evenings with live music around town in the summer. We would like this to become a weekly event this summer and are looking for suggestions for displays or events to happen while the music is playing. We also provide Canaan and Falls Village students with scholarships to pursue higher education with the Pat Pallone/Canaan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship with monies raised from the craft fair and various donations. We were able to give out $10,100.00! The Fall Festival is held in October which brings many car enthusiasts out. Local businesses and individuals decorate scarecrows for downtown. In December , the Canaan Fire Company puts together the Festival of Lights parade with the annual tree lighting following. The North Canaan Elementary band plays and cookies and hot chocolate is served with many people attending from our local community Area businesses also get together to encourage people to shop locally with Holiday shopping on Friday nights.

We encourage you to join. When you invest in the Canaan Chamber of Commerce, you are making an investment in your community. By becoming a member your business will be listed on our website and updated as needed with links, you will have access to the Chamber’s bulk mailing permit rate and if your business is having any special events we will post them on our calendar as well as notify members of your event. A membership application form is enclosed and your membership dues are only $100.00 a year! Your membership dues cover from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. We accept multiple ways to pay including paying by e-check online or with a credit card paid with Merchant Mentors. As always we are open to new ideas and welcome volunteers to come forward with their ideas and willingness to help.
