Our
primary goal in 2010 will be to remain at the forefront of
the issues that face us all and be on an ongoing visible resource
to our members to showcase the value of Chamber membership.
By attending meetings we can hear your concerns so that we
may work together to help benefit your business.
2009
Canaan Railroad Days brought thousands of people
into Canaan benefiting area businesses as well as our non-profit
organizations keeping the money in our community. The Commerford’s
Carnival gave more variety to Railroad Days and was well attended.
We were able to give to Canaan and Falls Village students
over $6,500 to further their education with the Pat
Pallone/Canaan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship.
Money for this scholarship was received from the Craft fair
and various donations. The 2010 Railroad Days has been scheduled
for July 9 – July 18th.
The Chamber of Commerce worked with the Canaan Recreation
Committee having its first Harvest Festival. Our newest member,
Heather Bartow from Canaan
Coins & Precious Metals spearheaded area
businesses to participate in having scarecrows
made and put around town giving us a festive look. Many local
people from the community enjoyed the pumpkin carving and
face painting ending with a Pasta Dinner put on by the Railroad
Historical Association.
The Festival of Lights was a great success working along
with the Canaan
Fire Company. More floats were added to the parade
with people lined on both sides of the street, once again
bringing the community together to come and see the tree lighting,
enjoy hot chocolate and listen to the North
Canaan Elementary band play.
We encourage you to join the Canaan Chamber of Commerce.
